Permanent Resident Card Renew

Eligibility

To be eligible for a PR card, you must:

  • be a permanent resident of Canada;

  • be physically present in Canada;

  • meet the residency requirement (see Appendix A: Residency obligation);

  • not be under an effective removal order;

  • not be a Canadian citizen; and

  • not be convicted of an offense related to the misuse of a PR card

 

Document Checklist

  • Application for a Permanent Resident Card or Permanent Resident Travel Document (IMM5444)

  • Proof of residency requirements if you were outside of Canada for 1095 days or more in the past five(5) years.

  • Proof of payment

  • Two Photo meeting the requirements of the Visa application photograph specifications, link. On the back of the two photos, write your name and date of birth.

  • Copy of one(1) primary identity document

  • Your PR card

  • Request for a Change of Sex or Gender Identifier(IRM 0002) if applicable

  • Confirmation of Eligibility for a Reclaimed Name Change Gratis Replacement Document Under Call to Action 17(IRM 0004)if applicable

  • Statutory Declaration to Reclaim an Indigenous Name on Canadian Citizenship Certificates or Permanent Resident Cards(IRM0005)if applicable
